hello america!!! while i do not begrudge obama & his family 'vacations' i have to wonder just many of them non elected officials have been on...this one is not on the list below so, it's 17, not 16.

First lady Michelle Obama’s weekend jaunt to Aspen, Colorado for a President’s Day ski holiday with her daughters Sasha and Malia makes the 16th time members of the first family have gone on extended vacations during their three years in office.

Their stay at the home of a major Chicago fundraiser for President Obama makes the fifth time the first lady and her daughters have taken a break from Washington on their own. Only once has Obama had a long weekend out of town and alone, celebrating his 49th birthday in Chicago in August 2010.

Accounting for trips out of Washington for several days, the total number of vacations Washington Secrets tabulated is 16, 10 where the family was together, such as for Christmas and summer vacations, one by the president and five by the first lady. Not included were Camp David visits or trips like the first family’s New York City date night in May, 2009.

According to presidential watcher Mark Knoller of CBS, George W. Bush, at this time of his presidency, had made 30 visits to his Texas ranch spanning all or part of 220 days. The Obama’s vacation day count is less than half of that.

But his have become more controversial because of the costs associated with moving the first family to a public vacation spot, unlike the Bushes to their remote ranch in Crawford, Texas. For example, the Hawaii Reporter said the first family’s 2011 Christmas vacation in Hawaii would exceed $1.5 million.

Critics and even some in his own party say the vacations present a bad image at a time when many Americans are struggling to get by during the recession. According to recent Harris poll, only three in 10 said they plan to take a vacation lasting longer than a week in the next six months, and that number has been dropping during the recession as people worry about the costs of vacations. Other polls have found that less than half of all Americans take all the vacation time they earn because they can’t afford trips.

if it's just about college loan interest rates, the solution is easy::::freeze them at a fair level for a definite period of time. yes, those that granted the loan will be upset but, getting something back has to be better then getting nothing at all.

on the other hand, if these kids are biting off more then they can chew, then that's on them. i do not want to pay one penny to help them. if they're signing the loan papers without any legal advice, they don't need to be in college period. &, simply because one attends harvard to study law does not mean they will become a lawyer or even work in the law field.

the problems aren't the loans or the interest on them---it's the cost of the schools themselves. as a leader, obama should be trying to work with the dems & the repubs to bring the costs down instead of vilifying them. his rhetoric is all about the wall street 'fat cats' & 'fairness' but, i guess that doesn't include 'higher education' & their unobstructive path to charge whatever they wish to.

obama, all you have to do is bring the costs of attending colleges down & ensure that the kids have some one to inform them of what they are signing prior to their signing it---& let the chips fall where they may.

on the other hand, you don't have the fortitude to battle with the colleges; you'd rather blame others & kick the can down the road. in fact, you'd rather take from one group of people & give to another---what's fair about that?

hello america!!! i told you long ago that obama will tell you whatever he thinks you want to hear. in the beginning, he promised you 'change' &, here it is, 3 1/2 years later & the only 'change' there's been is, things have become worse then when he 1st took office & he still doesn't have a clue as how to help america. &, before you jump me in the alley, allow me to say: obama is really easy to like in spite of his failures &, if i judge him with that, he's okay...however, i judge him by his actions & his actions are anti-america. the proof is in the pudding & his pudding stinks.

obama & the pro-obama media continue to blame pres bush for our economic downfall (i'll bail him out in a minute), the real root of our collapse started with all the sub-prime loans & you have to place the actual blame where it belongs---squarely on the shoulders of obama, pres clinton & the democrats (if you do your own homework, you'll find more of them with ties to fannie mae & freddie mac then republicans). & guess who tried to get stronger regulatory measures against fannie & freddie (starting in 2001) but will never get the credit for it---see here......

OBAMA, SO YOU KNOW HOW TO FIX OUR PROBLEM; PT 2!!!

hello america!!! part 1 took you through my 1st 13 years of life...this is part 2::::::::::::

i don't remember the month but, shortly after turning 13, i stood before a judge (with my dear father & a lawyer) who told me i was a juvenile delinquent & placed me in the george jr republic (freeville, ny) which was/is a co-ed place for wayward children. this is a place that is run just like the good ole usa except it's run by the kids & this is where my interests in politics took hold<><>actually, i was more involved with breaking the rules then following them...looking back at it, the system was set up just like our government is today...you could vote for the president on down; we had our kid police, etc & we had to work to earn money in order to buy what we needed from the campus store...well, that was okay with me because many of you have heard my motto:::if i didn't have enough, then you had too much (by the way, that's what got me there in the 1st place) & i didn't mind taking yours. the house-parents oversaw everything &, they were pretty cool. the whole thing was really good & little did i know then that a lot of what i learned about politics would come from there.

i used to 'runaway' a lot & go home only to be picked up & returned &, i don't know when i was officially released from there but at 16/17 years old, i was serving a 4 year sentence in sing sing prison thanks to my good ole motto which never failed me---kept my life adventurous---my father had remarried & moved to brooklyn ny (we still have the house)...got paroled after a year & some change, said the hell with it & ended up in baltimore, md (all i remember is drinking that gypsy rose & smoking that cali red, stole a bike & came to my senses in b-more. got a job at the k-o gas station on fayette & caroline, did something stupid (my motto again), got caught but got away with it but ny had a warrant out on me & they came & got me & i ended up in comstock (great meadows correctional facility in upper ny) which is a maximum security prison. after some time, i was reparoled to nyc & somehow (purely accidental) stayed out of trouble long enough to finish my parole------&, it really felt good to be off paper.

for the next several years, my job was playing handball & yes, don't mind telling you that i was very good. myself, connie, ace & monk had a circuit & we would go to all the parks & play for money. we ruled lincoln terrace park for years. actually, i met my 1st & only wife (even though we are divorced) &, she was also pretty good at handball. somehow i proposed to her in st john's park & joined the army in july 1974 & we got married in dec 1974....

OBAMA, SO YOU KNOW HOW TO FIX OUR PROBLEM!!!

hello america!!! i am not going to post numbers or links to this writing. however, i am going to appeal to your common sense, math skills &, loyalty to this great nation....

simply put, our 'entitlements programs' have to be overhauled. there's no getting around it &, the overhauling has been put off for far to long. obama even said it has to be addressed but, where's his plan? the dems run from the subject. the repubs have put forth several plans & got shot down as if they were doing the devil's work. that being said, regardless of who presents a plan to overhaul these programs, you can count on there being plenty of opposition.

america, people are living longer & retiring earlier &, they are collecting their social security benefits (i am a prime example---i filed 3 months before i was to become 62). then you have medicaid & medicare providing the healthcare they need.

with the federal government getting less in taxes because of the jobs situation & the programs having to pay out more-----------something is going to have to be done now or, the next generation will just have to keep on working until they become disabled or die. this is not 'scare tactics'---this is the cold hard facts that the so-called leader of this country doesn't want to share with you. obama won't tell you that if nothing is done to even try to preserve the programs, they will simply pay out until they no longer can &, the dates for that continue to move closer to now rather then the later.

common sense says, if you've been giving your kids an allowance & suddenly you find your hours cut or you lose that job, the allowance will either be diminished or stopped. those things that you wanted to do to your home will be put on the back burner & you'll only do the repairs that are absolutely necessary. however, i know there's somebody out there that will tell me that they are still going to add that extension to the house regardless of the finances.........good people, you know what i'm talking about &, you know i'm right. you also have to bear in mind that gas has gone up, food prices are up, essentials have gone up &, your utility bills have probably gone up..........

our federal government is not managing their fiscal responsibilities as they would if it were their home involved. they are taking in less money &, in spite of this, they want to spend even more. the credit card is already maxed out & they continue to want to borrow more money thus diving deeper into debt. & then, when a credit rating agency comes along & lowers their credit rating, they rant & rave & blame others for their own lack of common sense. they just don't get it! &, what bothers me the most is, when our officials have the opportunity to bring in fresh money, they oppose it.

social security is going to have to boost the ages up to about 69/70 before people can collect or, taxes will have to raised on everybody to some ungodly amount that nobody will like. the other choices will be to severely downsize the federal government or do away with certain agency's. then you have a possibility where you might be able to put your taxes for social security in a private account where the individual controls it---screw it up & you get nothing/allow it to blossom & reap the rewards during your later years.

common sense says you can't raise taxes at this time because the people that are running the show don't have a clue as to what they are doing. yes, it's great that obama wants to open up our markets to those outside our borders but, what good does that do when you can't even afford to buy some of the 'goods' that you really need?

america, we are at the crossroads---obama has been in office for 3 1/2 years & you can't help but see where this country is. you know of family & friends that have lost jobs & all obama wants to do is get them enrolled in his obamacare & give them food stamps::::these are facts...he doesn't want to get you a job unless it's a government job &, his 'stupid' regulations' prove me right.

it seems to me that when americans need help & leadership the most, the so-called leader (obama) is running around the country trying to drum up support for another 4 years...this by itself isn't a bad thing but what is a bad thing is, i ask, what has he done in the 3 1/2 years he has had to improve the quality of life for all americans??? &, don't worry, i'm not going to push you for an answer you never will be able to provide...

OBAMA, IF YOU HAD OF DONE JUST A 1/4 OF THE THINGS YOU PROMISED, I WOULD GIVE YOU MY VOTE OVER ROMNEY, & YES, I AM A REGISTERED REPUBLICAN.
